Hello all! long time listener, first time caller.Picked up Descent 2e and I am obsessed with this game. I continually keep losing the dice and having to play OL but I am certainly having fun with it. To keep things fun and fair we picked random heroes.
I have won every single encounter which leads to the OL revealed interlude. Setting it up and not having enough time play we are going to try again.
I was wondering if anyone could lend a hand and help an OL keep his advantage in a 2 hero game. So far my tactics have been.
Blocking spaces with meat shields.
TAKING MY TIME WITH TURNS, my opponents are completely unmerciful.
So a BIG question is this, can I use dark charm and leave someone in lava? This seems incredibly unfair. Standing up being the only action, just to fall down again. While this hasn't happened, if it's legal, I'm doing it.
Tactics. People often pick big monsters, but big monsters in a 2 hero game aren't masters and therefore cannot carry the objective, which limited me to choosing smaller minions. So my choices are (no expansion mind you). Goblins in the water, flesh menders in the lava and barghests in the dragon pit.
The idea is the barghests meat shield the pit to start, master closer to the token, the moulders grab the key and the archers come running down to provide a wall and pick up if the moulders drop. Baron comes when he's available. In our semi playthrough I was able to separate the two heroes but they're on to me now and won't do that again.
I'm looking for ways to keep this advantage. My thinking is, if I were a hero, I would eliminate all masters and rush the tokens. How do I prevent that? I'm curious to hear of your victories and defeats in this situation.
Remember two hero game with Grisban and the hero with stone skin (i forget which) I am going mostly Sab.
I'd also ask for some advice in the other interlude as well.
