Hello Everybody.I read a lot in this forum about the usage of rumor-quests. Without the new lieutnant-expansions the global meaning seems to be that rumor quests strongly favours the hero party and the Overlord should never play them because
1. free search-tokens for the Heroes
2. an additional shopping step
3. nice rewards for the Heroes
4. not so good rewards for the Overlord
In normal situations I would totally agree, that playing Rumors is a bad Idea for the Overlord. But I really want to integrate the new expansion(s) so I am looking for situations when it makes sense for the Overlord to send the heroes to a rumor quest.
The only situation i can think of happens last night. I played as OL against a 2 Hero party. After heroes won "FB" and spend 1 exp on both heroes my friend (controling both heroes) choose "A Fat Goblin" and lost it. With bad luck in both quests with search tokens he had only 100 gold which he spend for a shop item that really didnt strenghten his heroes up (cant remember because it was useless from my point of view

1. it is unlikely that the heroes will get that much money on the rumor to make usage from the additional shopping step.
2. perhaps i even can deny them to search all tokens
3. good chance fo me to win the quest and get the relic
I won, the Heroes got 50 gold from searches, had not enough money for the coming shopping items and i got the relic (Armor). So i traded 50 gold for a relic what is o.k. but not more. So even in this situation where i think i got most profit out of the rumor it was not satisfying because the heroes got more gold to spend on future shopping phases. So from a pure tactical point of view i would summarize that there is really no reason to play a rumor-quest... (Beside that it was fun to play it and a longer campaign is always better for the "epic"-feeling

Ok cut. I read about the new lieutnant expansion to earn additional threat for killing heroes, playing rumorcards and in every plot-deck there is a card that allows you to earn extra threat.
-->So rumor quest means additional threat for the overlord
At first sounds great. But if you keep in mind, that every spend threat will turn to a fortune token that helps the heroes it sounds like that the threat doesnt really change the thing that rumor-quests arent profitable for the OL because both sides benefit from the threat

Perhaps it is a good strategy then to save a lot of this threat for the final, and use them in the hope, that dead heroes cant make usage of the fortune tokens

But until the full rules for furtune tokes are not published, this is only speculation... I will edit this when news to the usage of fortune tokens appear.
I hope that there will be someday a good tactical reason to play rumor-quest for both sides or you can give me one.
Thanks
